40 Sucks!

I am not proud to say it but I am a procrastinator! A horrible little truth that I have never liked about myself. Oh, I wish it wasn't true, but it is! I always said I would change. Change never came. I will confess that my best research papers, projects and creations came out of my last minute endeavors!
I planned on making something for our dear friend's 40th birthday. Hey, I planned ahead by buying the cute little red cup string of lights (which totally remind me of him) from the Dollar Tree about 3 weeks before. In my head I was going to make a really cool "thing". What the heck can I do? I searched Pinterest and crafty little websites. I ran out of ways to search for anything that would bring me inspiration. I found nothing! Really?

The day of the party I was determined. A little flame behind my tail made me set my clock early (for a Saturday) so I could run my little bottom back to the store with all the knick knacks a crafty person could dream of, that cost $1! I walked through the isles in desperate need of something that would make my creation AMAZING.
Our great and wonderful friend so needed an awesome centerpiece for his 40th...I couldn't let him down...even if he didn't expect it!!

I left the Dollar Tree with 2 bags and 3 balloons and a little shiny idea that became this!! 40 Sucks!!

Items from the Dollar Tree:
3 strings of red cup lights
foam cooler
2 bags of dum dum lolly pops
1 balloon holder
black tissue paper
3 balloons

Additional items (I happen to have):
Patterned paper (I cut the letters and numbers with my Cricut, buy you can hand cut or print)
foam pieces
thin wire
wood sticks
batteries

I ended up adhering the cup light strings to the bottom part of the cooler with metal wire. I flipped the top of the cooler over, hot glued foam pieces to the middle of it to hold my lollypops. I used the black tissue paper to cover the green foam and taped it to hold. I then pressed the lollypops into the foam near the front sides and back, leaving the middle open. I took apart the balloon holder and used the metallic wire stars and long skinny things and stuck and glued into the foam. I used small wood sticks I had from an Easter project and glued the numbers on. I poked them through the foam in very center of the lid.  The 3rd string of lights were tucked into the sides of the foam and lid and nestled between the lollypops to hide any open spots. I hid the batter packs inside the cooler! There you go! Something fun and different for our special friend! I think he enjoyed it. My husband said everyone was asking who made it. Job completed...onto the next last minute creation!

Try, try again!

It's been a long time since I last blogged! I just felt like blogging wasn't my thing. It isn't one of my natural talents. Very far from it. But, lately I have been pinning like crazy. Trying to get my house organized and beautiful! Just like all those Pinterest posts! Ohhh....how I love to stick those little pics on my boards that I yearn to make so my house will look exactly like them! Anyhow, my home is "more" organized and still doesn't look like the pics, but it has opened my eyes to a whole new world. The world of blogs! I've been introduced to all these awesome people who post pictures and videos of their homes, rooms, crafts, recipes and anything else they are into! They inspired me to get up and go to my craft room, pull out all those pretty things I bought and pushed into my drawers and cabinets!! Make something..and I have! I've made some cute gifts. I rearranged my kitchen counters to look like, well the picture on Pinterest!! I did something and I'm kinda proud!
With that being said, I have come to the conclusion that I should try again! I have attempted and even been successful (a small percentage of time) at completing some pins I have saved! If I have been inspired by blogs, then I think I can try and inspire someone too! So here I am!
I am just going to post pictures, ideas, my attempt of completing pins and maybe one day some videos (still not 100% sure about that). Hopefully at least one person can get into or back into creating something! So go out there and make something fun, cute, beautiful or just something that brings a smile to your face! Here to going at it again...here I go!

Sticky note holder

I found this cute idea from Violet at Paper Wings
http://violetpaperwings.blogspot.com/2010/12/post-it-present.html
I used :4x6 clear magnetic frames (Kmart $2)
scrapbook paper, punches (Stampin' Up) glitter paper (SU), hot glue, ribbon,
& vinyl I cut with my Cricut

I love me some Mickey! These will be great for our upcoming Disney cruise! Since they have magnets on the back, they will stick to the cabin doors! I can leave a pen and passerby's can
leave us a message..or my parents can tell us where they are going to be! FUN!!

These are for Mother's day gifts!!

There are pics below of item I used in my sticky note holders, click on pics to take you to my SU store!  Don't forget to check out the retiring products, some discounted!

February Jacksonville Blog Hop

Our February challenge was to make a card using this sketch

The thing I love about Stampin' Up is you can adjust ideas and make something beautiful with what you already have! I do not own any of the punches above. I do own other dies that I used instead.
This is my version(s) of this sketch:

I am still on Valentine's mode! You have enough time to order so I made this Sephora inspired card! I love me some Sephora and thought it made a really unique card! The paper is the Stacked with Love Designer Series paper stack 137779. If you purchase the paper stack and the You Plus me stamp set you get 15% off! Deal! Of course I took advantage of that one! That bundle is: Clear stamp set 138880 or wood stamp set 138879.
I used the thinlits from the Mini treat bag thin lit dies, some rhinestones, the label & heart die from the Circle card thin lit set 133480.
The base is Whisper white paper and the heart cut out is Real Red card stock, there are also dementionals used for the heart and label!!

Next holiday would be Easter! I decided to get this adorable Easter stamp set called For Peeps' Sake 138557. I couldn't pass up the cuteness! When I think of Easter I think...PEEPS!!!
The paper is from the Sale-A-Brations catalog..I got it free when I ordered $50 in merchandise! The colors remind me of spring! Even though I am liking the cooler winter weather..spring time is so beautiful! All the bright colors!
The banner dies are from the Mini treat bag Thinlit dies 137547 collection! Like above the lane is from the Circle Card set. I ended up using the Starburst layering die 132967 to display my cute purple Peep!  I ended up stamping the Happy, Hoppy Easter on one end of the banner and cutting it right above the stamped image! There's so many ways to use the dies! Love it!!

Take a look at my website: www.moniquezimmer.stampinup.net
Take advantage of the Sale-A-Brations promotion!
It ends March 31st!! So don't wait. If you would like a catalog contact me at zimzim75@aol.com, I would love to send you one!!

Happy New Year!

January Jax Starz Blog Hop!!!

Very sad to see Christmas go...I still have my decorations up as I write this!
But, I am very excited that I get to swap Christmas for Valentine's Day decor!!!

It's even more exciting because the new Occasions catalog is out Jan 6th!!
There's a whole bunch of NEW items that are amazing!
That also means SALE-A-BRATION time!!
For every $50 in product you purchase (before shipping & tax) you get a FREE product.
There are 11 special items to choose from! They even have bundle ideas & projects so you don't have to hunt around the catalog to come up with $50 to spend!!

The January Jax Starz Blog Hop theme this month is Valentine's!!!
I made this frame because I saw this great idea on Pinterest! It's a little different, but an easy and cute piece of craftiness to have out on my console (since it will be so bare without my Christmas decor!).
I love the idea of having this out year long to let my husband or family know
the things they do that help make me feel loved!

I found this double 4x6  picture frame and thought it was perfect for this project.
Buy a dry erase marker to change your "because" every day or when ever you please! It wipes off easily from the glass so you can change your reason as often as you want!!
Great way to make your Valentine feel appreciated!
Cute gift for spouse, parents, grandparents, teachers or friends!

These are the items I used!! I love all the NEW things the Occasions catalog has! Made this frame even more amazing!

Some of my Christmas joys!

I'm so into my Big Shot and Framelits! Love them! Having fun putting these fun banners together!
I used the Trim the tree paper pack with the Starburst Framelits. The banner is the largest one from the Banner Framelites dies and paper is from the Under the Tree DSP (designer paper series)! I've used them for so many things this holiday! LOVE Them!!
Hope you get some time out to craft & create this Season! Merry Christmas and happy Stamping to all!!

Welcome to the December Card bomb!!

Christmas time is here!! Holiday cheer and lots of pretty Christmas cards!
The Jacksonville Stars Blog Hop is in full spirit!
Enjoy the beautifully created cards! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration!

I loved doing this card because I was able to use my new Star thinlits!! To give it a little shine I added silver glitter paper!!! I'd use it on everything if I could! It's so sparkly!! The paper primarily used to make this card was the  designer series paper from the Christmas pack All is Calm, which is amazing!! The sentiment comes in the Project Life Holiday Cheer polymer stamp set! I have used this stamp set so much this season!! It has Halloween, fall, Christmas, winter & a few everyday occasions! Great deal!! I also used the scallop edge punch and real red ribbon! Had to add a little bling...with the frosted snowflake sequins! Enjoy!
